The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team raced their first 5k of the season on Wednesday at the Saranac Invitational. The Bulldogs battled strong competition over the hilly course and placed 4th out of 13 teams in the D1 / D2 race. Leading the way and medaling for the Bulldogs were Josiah Magley who placed 5th (16:17 lifetime PR), Heath LaPointe in 11th (16:52 lifetime PR), Jacob Montgomery in 12th (17:01 lifetime PR), and Andrew Gerdes in 28th (17:48 lifetime PR). Riley Husted rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs placing 46th (18:28 season PR). Other lifetime PR’s were earned by Ellis Yokom (18:29) and Tyson Evans (18:49).
The Bulldog men will return to action September 8th at the Marauder Invitational at Uncle John’s Cider Mill.
