The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team got their season off to a strong start at the Lansing Catholic 2-Mile Invitational this evening. The boys had to endure delays because of rising heat index values. Ultimately 5 boys were able to compete, representing the Bulldogs well, in the slower heat. The faster heat was started, only to have the boys pulled from the course after ¾ of a mile because of thunderstorms. Leading the charge for the Bulldogs was Tyson Evans who placed 3rd in 12:08. Demetri Davis followed closely behind in 7th place with a time of 12:24. The third Bulldog to cross the finish line was Connor Clark in 28th place with a time of 13:33. Lincoln Denis was the next Bulldog in 38th place with a time of 14:02. Alex Bushee rounded things out for the Bulldogs by finishing 43rd with a time of 14:20.
The Bulldogs will get back to work in practice with their sights set on their next meet, the Saranac Invitational on September 1.
