The Ionia Junior Varsity Softball Team took two losses on the night of their last game. The girls started out the first game and struggled due to an injury from Hannah Alderink,after a pitch to the foot,  in which left the team with only 8 players that were able to play. This had Ionia in a disadvantage that led to a 14-1 loss for Ionia. Jazmin Cooper led the team during this game hitting 2-3.Despite being one girl short, the second game was an incredible attest to their ability to overcome adversity as most of the game was neck and neck. Liberty Stanard pitched for the Bulldogs and many more girls contributed to hits during this game. Ava Bucholtz went 3-4, Tate Piche went 2-3 with a walk, and Kaylee Schmid went 2-4. They battled but in the end loss in the fifth inning 15-12. Ionia finished their season 5-23 but made great strides in both their defensive and offensive play during the 2023 season!
