The Ionia 8th Grade Volleyball teams took on Waverly Warriors tonight at the high school gym. The Bulldogs communicated well and hustled on the court tonight! Elle Lepley had four aces and a service point while Jordyn Ciganick added another four aces and they each had a nice kill! Jocelyn White played her part in the front row and had some great assists! Ryley Helmes added another two aces and a kill leading the Dawgs to victory over the Warriors in set one, 25-12. Ready and excited to get back on the court, Ionia hustled on defense and played aggressive at the net. Melanie White had a nice kill as did McKenna O'Connor. White also dominated in the back row not letting a ball drop! The Bulldogs defeated Waverly in set two 25-19. A few struggles on serve receive and behind the service line early on gave Ionia a slower start in the final set. Lepley had another three aces and a kill while Helmes added an additional ace. Despite their efforts, Ionia couldn't quite pull off the third set win and fell to Waverly 14-16.
