The Ionia 8th Grade Volleyball team took on the Gladiators from Fowlerville tonight. Cora Nummer was the Dawgs lead server and she put up 6 total points in the first set, 4 of which were aces. Marley Piselli had 3 great kills and several nice digs. Kiara Goodsell was aggressive on defense and passed well. The Bulldogs played hard and came away with the first set victory winning 25-13. Ready for set two, the Lady Dawgs serve received well and quickly regained service possession. Chloe Zander was aggressive at the net and Bela Delgado had several nice assists. Despite their efforts, Ionia fell just shy of the victory in a tight second set, losing to the Gladiators 26-27. It all came down to the final set to 15. The Bulldogs knew they could not give up many points and they continued to serve aggressively and have great communication. Brooklynn Burhans had a great block and was helpful in the setter's spot.
