LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL- Ionia (5-4, 4-3) finished the regular season with a fifth straight win over Lakewood for the first time in the history of the rivalry with a 20-0 win. Ionia scored on the first possession after converting multiple 4th downs which concluded with a Spencer Tooker touchdown catch from Travis Tucker from ten yards out. Ionia was able to get a three and out and drove down to Lakewood territory again, capped by a Travis Tucker fourth down score and Tooker conversion to make the game 14-0. Ionia didn't give up a first down and used several key Tooker catches to get another score just before half on a Brennen Brownell touchdown to make the game 20-0. The game, in the second half, slowed down as both teams stuggled to move the ball. Ionia's defense was led by Wyatt Erridge and Wolton Sandborn, who each had four tackles. Henry Castle added a sack as Ionia held Lakewood to five first downs and 73 yards of total offense. Ionia awaits to see if they will qualify for the MHSAA playoffs on Sunday night at 7pm.
