IONIA- The Bulldogs (1-3, 0-2) lost to Portland 41-6 in the this year's annual Purple Game. Travis Tucker scored Ionia's only touchdown on a 72 yard run and finished with 126 yards rushing. Henry Castle two receptions for the Bulldogs. Brennan Brownell led Ionia with 10.5 tackles and Hunter Barker added 6.5. Ionia took the opening drive inside the Portland 10 before being turned away. Portland scored two touchdowns to make it 13-0, before Ionia got on the board with Tucker's run. Portland took a 19-6 lead at half before scoring on their opening drive of the second half to make it 27-6. Two Portland 4th quarter TDs capped the scoring.
