The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Portland tonight for their final regular season game that was also the last CAAC White match up. Although the Bulldogs got off to a slow start, they worked hard to overcome a deficit and win the first set. However, they struggled to push to close out the second set and then dropped the third as well. When they stepped back on the court for the fourth set they dug in and came together as a team to top the Raiders in the fourth set and kept swinging through the fifth set for a convincing 15-8 finish on 2 strong blocks from Rajalyaj Esquivel! Defense had a fantastic night with Londyn Brown leading the charge keeping impossible balls in play & tallying 25 digs while Mikaiah White added 17. Rajalyaj Esquivel led the defense at the net with 4 solo blocks while Julia Stewart added 2 total. Tess Griffith once again led the offensive efforts with 17 kills while Drew Wachowski and Esquivel added 13 each. Mikaiah White paced the offense with 29 assists. The Bulldogs collectively had an aggressive night behind the service line with 13 total aces with Wachowski, M. White and Griffith serving up 3 each. The Bulldogs finish in second place in the CAAC White at 7-3 and move to 23-9-3 overall. Ionia hosts Districts with the first round starting Monday 10/31. The Bulldogs have a bye the first round and will take on the winner of Monday's match up on Wednesday 11/2 at 6:30. Come out and rock the gym for these hard working Bulldogs! Great work Bulldogs!
