J.W. SEXTON HIGH SCHOOL: 8
The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team opened conference play in their first home match this season with a win against Lansing Sexton. The Bulldogs came out strong, serving tough and swinging big at the net. Consistent play all the way around propelled the team to a straight set victory. Leading the attack at the net was Senior and Captain Tess Griffith & Junior Julia Stewart with 4 kills each while Senior and Captain Rajalyaj Esquivel added 3. Senior setter Mikaiah White dished out 11 assists on those kills. On the attack behind the line, White and Senior Drew Wachowski served up 6 aces apiece. On defense Senior Londyn Brown led the charge with 4 digs while Junior Kate Brown added 3. The Varsity Volleyball team moved to 7-1-1 and 1-0 in the conference. The Bulldogs will be back on their home court Tuesday 9/6 at 6pm against Eaton Rapids. Great work Bulldogs!
