The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Charlotte tonight for a 2nd league match up. The Bulldogs got out to a strong start in the first set with aggressive serving and strong defensive play, pushing through to a 25-12 finish. Taking to the court in the second set Ionia took some time to find the momentum, but ended up connecting on several plays to close out the set 25-21. Charlotte found their groove with serving and the Bulldogs fell behind in the middle of the third set. After a timeout the Lady Dawgs stepped back onto the court with a determined mind set. With strong serves from Ava Curtin and tough defense to keep the offense running smoothly, Ionia was able to rally back and win the match with a 25-23 third set win. 

Defensively the Bulldogs were led by GraceMarie Martinez with 21 digs, while Kassidy Casillas kept 11 in play. At the net Danika Fyan had 2 blocks and Casillas & Tess Griffith both added 1. Offensively Brynn Reams led the team with 9 kills and Griffith added 7. Cassillas did a great job keeping the offense running with 23 assists on the night. Behind the service line Jessa Swinehart and Casillas each had 2 aces. The Varsity team moves to 23-5-1 overall and 6-1 in the CAAC. The Bulldogs host their home invitational this Saturday with play beginning at 9.
