The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Battle Creek Central today for a 12 team tournament. The Bulldogs started out the day in pool play with a win over Bellevue 25-17, 25-17. Next up they took on Loy Norrix. After a slow start to the match, the Bulldogs battled back to win 26-24, 25-15. The final match in pool play was against Delton-Kellogg. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and maintained their strong play to finish 25-9, 25-9. With a 6-0 record Ionia finished 2nd out of 12 teams. In the Gold Bracket match Ionia faced Grand Ledge. Although the Bulldogs had great play in the back row with strong blocks and good swings at the net, they lost the match 15-25, 19-25 to end the day. 

Offense was led by Danika Fyan with 23 kills and Tess Griffith adding 15. Mikaiah White set up 48 assists. Paige Castillo led the defensive efforts with 16 digs while Griffith and Fyan both blocked 5 at the net. Londyn Brown had a great day serving with 6 aces and Castillo & Fyan added 4 each. Overall strong day for the Varsity team! Ionia moves to 15-3 overall and 3-1 in CAAC. The Bulldogs will be back on their home court on Tuesday when they host Lansing Sexton.
