The Ionia Bulldogs traveled to Lansing Catholic tonight to match up with the other undefeated conference team. The Bulldogs were ready to play and showed a great amount of determination, but came up short dropping the match in 4 sets. The Lady Dawgs got off to a slow start in the first set before rallying off some great defensive plays, but couldn't overcome and lost 16-25. In the second set, Ionia was able to take the early lead and fed off strong play to close out the set 25-22. Again, the Bulldogs were unable to string together early points, losing the third set 16-25. In the fourth set the Bulldogs worked to keep the ball in play and take advantage of a strong effort at the net, but came up shy in the end with a 20-25 loss. 

Defense had an absolutely stellar night making spectacular saves and keeping the ball in play for the Ionia Bulldogs! Paige Castillo led the back court effort with 17 digs. Tess Griffith and Brynn Reams led defensively in the front row with 4 blocks apiece. Offense worked hard to put points on the board with Griffith and Danika Fyan both knocking down 8 kills and Kassidy Casillas tallying 19 assists. Casillas also led from the service line with 4 aces. 

The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team moves to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in CAAC. The Bulldogs are on the road this weekend at the Mt. Morris tournament and then back home on September 28th vs Lansing Sexton.
