The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team played strong in front of a big crowd for their home opener with a sweep against Charlotte! The Bulldogs got out to a strong start in the first set and didn't let a service run by Charlotte get the best of them. They rallied back for a 25-18 opening set win. The second set remained even for the start until Danika Fyan went on an 8 point run in the middle of the set. The defense made some great plays to finish off with a 25-18 win. The Lady Dawgs jumped out quick again in the third set, and the offense finished off the night with a 25-15 win to complete the sweep. 

Overall it was a well balanced game for offense and defense. Danika Fyan led the attack at the net with 13 kills, with Emma Scoby and Jessa Swinehart both adding 5. Kassidy Casillas dished out 31 assists to hitters throughout the 3 sets. On defense at the net, Tess Griffith led the team with 3 blocks while Fyan and Brynn Reams added 2 apiece. The back row held the line on defense again tonight, working hard to keep the ball in play. Londyn Brown led with 9 digs and Paige Castillo had 7. Behind the service line Fyan tallied 5 aces over 18 attempts with only 1 error. 

Good work and congratulations ladies on another great night and a fun home opener! The Lady Dawgs Varsity Volleyball team is now 2-0 in the CAAC and 10-1 overall. Next up is the Purple Game vs Portland on Tuesday, September 14th.
