Ionia finished the 2022 regular season tonight with a well-earned victory against a plucky Fowlerville side. It took us a while to find our feet and I would say the first fifteen minutes or so we weren't really connecting. We eventually grew into the game though and gradually we saw the field tilt in our favor toward their end. After having scored two goals we looked like we were hungry for more and kept knocking on the door. With about ten minutes left in the half, there was a plot twist which saw us reduced to ten players. The guys fought hard to finish out the half without conceding.

The second half required some tactical changes in order to maintain our advantage. The guys played very well in protecting the lead and with the exception of a late goal by Fowlerville, we held on and saw the game out.

The supporters definitely gave us a boost tonight and helped keep us going with the atmosphere they created. It was really appreciated by the players.  

The win gives us a regular season record of 13-4-1. It also ensured that we ended the season undefeated at home for the first time.
