The game began with a back and forth struggle between the two teams as they tried to figure each other out and see who could draw first blood. It didn't take too long before the bulldogs took the lead on a goal by Sr. Devon Reyes, fed by a long distance ball from Sr. Aidan Kapp. Although Ionia was productive on the attack and never lost their lead, the first half was closer than the 4-2 score would indicate as we struggled to defend as a team and the game was still up for grabs.

In the second-half the players adjusted their approach to the game, playing with more energy and determination. As the game wore on that approach started to win more of the little battles for the ball and we started to play better as a team. The final score of 8-3 was about right for Ionia's second win of the season.

It was a productive night for the team captains as Jr Zane Sarka scored four goals, two assists and Devon Reyes got the hat-trick along with an assist. Lance Atkinson also headed in off of a corner kick taken by Sarka.
