The Bulldogs played host to Perry tonight. Ionia established control of the game immediately and was able to dictate play. Several early goals allowed us to get a good rotation of players onto the field. Many of those players were getting their first taste of high school soccer, so it was a great way to get them into the play and start gaining valuable experience . 

It was great to see that our established players were picking up where they left off last season. Zane Sarka netted a hat-trick and Devon Reyes controlled the tempo in the midfield and chipped in with a goal and an assist. We also saw two newcomers, Derrick Santana and Luis Lopez, get on the score sheet with the first goals of their High School careers. Sprinkle in a goal for Kyle Jones who is usually on the other end stopping shots, and you had an exciting game. Then there was the screaming run down the wing capped off with lovely ball driven into the far netting by Carter Castillo.

It was a good game but now we must turn our attention to preparation for the xext match sceduled for Friday Aug. 19 at Lansing Eastern with JV kick-off at 5:30 pmfollowed by Varsity at 7pm.
