The Ionia boys soccer season came to an end this evening with a hard fought district semi-final game against Plainwell. The game was played with a lot of energy and both teams competed well. Plainwell struck first toward the end of the first half to take advantage of a dip in our focus. But the guys didn't let it pull them down and continued to work hard.
In the second half it was more of the same high energy and Ionia played patiently, working for an opportunity to get back into the game. As the game was winding down, Plainwell scored again to lock up the game with under 10 minutes to go. Both teams traded penalties to finish out the game resulting in a 3-1 loss.

Bitter-sweet ending. You never want to lose the game; but the guys all played hard and we have to be proud of the way they played and the way in which they represented Ionia.
