Tonight was our quarter-final matchup against Sparta in the MHSAA tournament. It didn't take long for Ionia to get on the scoreboard. Devon Reyes stuck the ball in the back of the net inside of a minute and a half. He would go on to tally five goals to lead the scoring while Zane Sarka had two goals and three assists Will Paton also registered an assist.

But, it was a total team effort. Everyone played a part. Defensively we were able to swat away sparta's attempts at goal. In midfield we controlled the movement of the ball, and on the attack we were able to build the attack with direct play as well as some quality crossing from the wings.

Next up is the district semi-final match against Northview, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
