It was another hot evening of soccer with the Ionia boys varsity team. It wasn't our best game of the season but they aren't always pretty and we played well enough to keep a clean sheet against Ithaca. During the process we managed to score six goals en route to comfortable win which keeps our early season record perfect.

There was plenty of excitement in the game with some good performances. Wyatt Montgomery led the team with numerous heading clearances and as the game wore on he secured the back allowing for his defensive partner, Ethan Castillo, to push forward and make some great runs to jump into play while also tending to his defensive duties. As usual the attack had some opportunities but there were some positive attacking contributions from Lance Atkinson who registered three shots on goal, and some good play down the wing by Gage Flanner to create chances. The game also featured a first career high school goal for Marco Riesco De Castro.
