On Monday, November 25th Ionia traveled to Lakewood to take on the unbeaten Vikings. The Bulldogs battled the whole game but came up short 48-41.  Once again a disappointing 2nd quarter was too much to overcome.  Outscored 16-3 in the second quarter left Ionia down 25-19 at the half.  The Dawgs cut the deficit to one point towards the middle of the 3rd quarter but trailed by 8 going into the 4th quarter.  Despite a valiant effort the final difference was 7 points.  While unable to break into the win column the team showed their grit after losing to Lakewood 59-19 in the season opener.  It was a strong effort from the Bulldogs against a very good opponent!  The loss does drop the team to 0-6 for the season.

Neithan Cruz-Pagan led with 13 points and also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.  Jacob Roman had 9 points and Roemon Russell added 8 points along with 5 rebounds.  Lorenzo Lopez had 5 points and led with 8 rebounds. Austin Henry scored 4 points and Hudson Hawley had 2 points along with 3 assists and 3 steals.  The 41 points scored tied a season high aided by 6 three-point baskets.

Ionia’s 7th graders will host Eaton Rapids on Monday, December 2nd.  Games will start @ 4:30/5:40.
