EATON RAPIDS MIDDLE SCHOOL: 27
The 8th grade girls lost their home opener Monday to Eaton Rapids 27-24. Ionia held a 14-9 halftime advantage and stretched it to 20-12 before the Greyhounds made their comeback with 10 unanswered points. The young Lady Dawgs had trouble shooting, hitting just 9-53 (17%) from the floor. They also struggled from the free throw line going 6-20. They had a lot of good chances but just could not get the ball to fall. Selina Stalker paced Ionia with 8 points and 17 rebounds. Rylee Daugherty had 6 points and 4 steals. Pyper Patterson scored 6 points grabbed 5 rebounds had 2 assists and 3 steals. Alexa Petersen added 4 points and 5 rebounds. Bella Barr hustled on defense with 4 rebounds and 3 steals. The Bulldogs now 1-1 on the season host Waverly at 5:30 on Wednesday.
