OLIVET MIDDLE SCHOOL: 34
The Ionia 8th grade girls basketball team traveled to Olivet Wednesday night to take on the Eagles. Ionia played very well in the first half, trailing 19-20 at halftime. The ladies got off to a slow start in the 3rd quarter, with Olivet outscoring us 10-3. Ionia trailed 22-30 heading into the final quarter. The ladies fought hard for the last 8 minutes and closed the gap to 5 points, but ultimately fell short, losing 29-34.
Leading scorers for the Bulldogs were Ava Benedict and Olivia Lemke with 10 points each, followed by Gena Rogers with 4 points, Jordyn Ciganick with 3, and Ryley Helmes with 2.
The Bulldogs will travel to Waverly on Monday, February 26th for their last game of the season.
