HOLT MIDDLE SCHOOL: 37
The Ionia 8th grade girls basketball team hosted the Rams from Holt tonight, losing by a score of 37-24. The Bulldogs started the game off well, trailing 10-8 after the first quarter. Holt increased their margin in the second quarter and took a 19-12 lead into halftime. Ionia made some great steals in the second half, but unfortunately couldn't get the momentum back on our side. The team showed a lot of improvement and will continue to work hard for the next game.
Ava Benedit was a strong leader tonight, recording 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Gena Rogers was also big on the boards recording 9 rebounds and adding 2 points. Other scorers for the Bulldogs included Alex Jensen with 2 and Olivia Lemke with 14.
Ionia will travel to Lansing Catholic on Monday, January 29th.
