LAKEWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL: 32
The Ionia girls 8th grade basketball team opened their season in Lakewood today, falling short 19-32.
The team got off to a slow start in the first half, trailing 26-6 at halftime. However, they made some great adjustments on both offense and defense in the second half, outscoring Lakewood 13-6. Pacing the way for the Bulldogs was Olivia Lemke with 12 points and 4 rebounds, followed by Ava Benedict with 4 points and 4 steals, and Gena Rogers with 3 points. Ash Ellsworth was strong on the boards with 6 rebounds!
The Bulldogs will play at home on Wednesday, January 24th against Holt
