ST. JOHNS MIDDLE SCHOOL: 71
Tonight the Bulldogs hosted St. Johns for their first game of the season. The first quarter saw Ionia jump out to a 14-11 lead and continued to play hard in the second. Going into halftime the Bulldogs led 30-28. The team started slowly in the third quarter. The Bulldogs had a few untimely turnovers which allowed St. Johns to outscore them by 13. They continued to hustle and play hard but were unable to overcome the deficit. The final score was Ionia 56 St. Johns 71. The leading scorer was Ethan Wenzel with 16 points and Daniel Gilmore with 12. Other contributors were Jude Gilmore with 9, JJ. Christensen with 7 points, and Sam Montgomery with 6. Players who added 2 points were Cash Hummel, Kadyn Ross, and Evan Jones. The team is now 0-1. Their next game is Wednesday, November 9 at Lansing Catholic.
