The JV Volleyball team hosted a tournament today. The girls started out strong and won their first match against Haslett 25-17, 25-19.  In the second match of the day the team defeated Gull Lake 25-16, 25-20.  After a long break the girls came out a little rusty against Belding and dropped the first set 19-25 but powered through the second set winning 25-16.  The girls came out of pool play with the number one seed from their court.  

In bracket play, the team started play against Durand winning in two sets 25-8, 25-17.  After another break, Grand Ledge was next on the court.  Unfortunately the girls couldn't hold on and lost 18-25, 20-25. Despite missing two players and two players powering through injuries, the team played some amazing volleyball today.  Every girl gave their all and played some tough volleyball.

Leading the team today at the net was Alli Shaw with 29 kills, Amelia Griffith put down 19 kills and Ariana Frias added 17 kills. Shaw led the offense with 31 assists and Emma Hoppough put up 19 assists.  Griffith led the team at the service line with 36 service points and 8 aces.  Shaw had 31 service points and 10 aces while Marley Piselli had 26 service points and 5 aces.  Avery Hoppough led the charge defensively with 76 digs while Frias has 33 digs and Shaw had 28 digs.  Griffith and Shiann Boer had two blocks each.

The girls will be back in action on Tuesday, September 17th at 5:00pm against Charlotte at home.  The team is now 11-3-3 on the season.
