The JV Volleyball team traveled to St. Louis for a twelve team invitational.  In pool play in the morning the team had a slow start, losing their first two sets to Valley Lutheran 20-25 and 23-25.  In their second match up against Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart they were able to pull out a tie, winning 25-23 and dropping the second set 23-25.  In their last pool play game, the team was in desperate need of a couple of wins.  After a shaky start against Hemlock, they were able to pull out the first set 25-23 and then dominated in the second set 25-11.

The afternoon brought us into the gold bracket as a lower seed. Our first match was against Carson City which we won in two sets.  In the second match we faced a strong Garber team, winning in three sets 25-21, 25-27 and 15-11. The final match of the day was against Valley Lutheran.  Both teams had gotten stronger in their play as the day went on.  The first set was a battle and Ionia pulled out the win 29-27.  The second set went back and forth and we dropped the set 21-25.  The third set was a hard fought battle by both teams, unfortunately we dropped the third set 13-15 to take 2nd place.

Leading the team at the net today was Josie Lee with 33 kills, Amelia Griffith added 27 and Tessa Lemke had 23. Kylie Leonard put up 48 assists while Addie Bowne had 43. Kylie Leonard, Amelia Griffith and Paislie Patterson were all strong at the service line today.  Patterson had 7 aces and Lemke added 6. Patterson led the team defensively with 124 digs while Griffith added 31.

The team ends a strong season with a 27-7-5 record. Great job Lady Dawgs!!
