The JV Volleyball team hosted an Invitational with seven other teams today. The Lady Dawgs fought hard all day and fell to a solid Grand Ledge team in three to take second place.

The girls had a tough start in the morning losing their first two games to Battle Creek Lakeview 7-25 and 16-25.  The girls refocused and came out strong in their next match beating Holt 25-13 and 25-20. The Dawgs then faced off against Belding.  They stayed playing strong and won 25-19 and 25-16.  The team entered bracket play and had to start off against Portland.  The teams battled back and forth and the Lady Dawgs came out on top winning 25-19 and 25-22.  The next match was against a strong Mason team.  Both teams played hard and again the Dawgs came up with the win in three, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-12.

Ionia entered the final match against Grand Ledge. The first match was a nail biter with the Bulldogs coming out on top 30-28. Grand Ledge battled back and took the second game 20-25. The Bulldogs ran out of steam in the third game and lost 6-15.

The team played hard and fought for every game today.  They never gave up and played their best volleyball of the season.  The team was led at the net with excellent play from Alexias Daugherty.  Molly Waterman had 15 kills, Layla Delnay had 8 and Tessa Lemke had 6. Layla added 5 blocks and Alexias had 2.  Alexias and Josie Lee led the girls with their strong serving today.

The Bulldogs with play again on Tuesday, September 20th at 5:00pm in their Purple game against Portland High School. Come out and support our Bulldogs and our Community!
