The Ionia JV volleyball team traveled to Portland tonight and took on their rival Raiders. The Bulldogs had high energy and were ready to earn a win after a former loss to Portland at home. Alexias Daugherty and Julia Stewart started off the first set with strong serves. Lilly Reams and Kathryn Brown followed suit and earned a combined 9 service points. Alexias Daugherty and Emma White were aggressive at the net and each put up a nice block. Ionia fought for every point and it came down to the wire, but they pulled off an exciting first set win! The Dawgs won 26-24.

The second set was bound to be a nail-biter, but the ladies stayed focused and ready to go. Julie Stewart had a nice kill and solid serves. Lilly Reams put up two kill points and Kathryn Brown had three aces. Despite their efforts, a few small errors led to the Bulldogs defeat in game two and they fell short 18-25.

Knowing the third set was only to 15, the JV Dawgs came out ready to show GRIT and work for each point. They served aggressively and communicated well on the floor. Ionia battled and did not let their mistakes stop them from coming back and getting the job done. Each player did their part and together the Bulldogs pulled off a great win in set three, defeating Portland 15-12.
