The JV Bulldogs played multiple tough opponents today at their home tourney. During their first match of the day against Pennfield, both Kathryn Brown and Ella Curtin had 5 aces while Emma White started off strong with an impressive 7 kills. Mimose Sandborn added an additional 3 kills and the Dawgs took the victory. 

In their second match, the Bulldogs took on the Vikings from Everett. Julia Stewart led the team with an outstanding 16 service points, 7 of which were aces! Lilly Reams not only had 8 assists, but also put up 3 kill points! Ionia played well and took home their second win of the day.

The Lady Dawgs saw some familiar faces in their third match of the day as they faced the Charlotte Orioles. Lilly Reams serve received well and was able to add another 4 kills to her day. Alexias Daugherty had 3 kill points while Julia Stewart and Molly Waterman each had 2. The Bulldogs remained undefeated and brought home another victory.

The Bulldogs were seeded at the top of the tournament bracket, but they knew that taking first place would not be easy. First on the list was Jackson. Ionia served tough in the match with Kathryn Brown and Emma White each putting up 4 aces. Addyson Roundtree had 2 great digs and covered her teammates well. The Lady Dawgs defeated Jackson in two.

Next up was East Lansing.  Ionia played well as a team and really fought to earn their spot in the championship round. Kamryn Perry played aggressively and put up 3 kills! Emma White had 8 digs, Kathryn Brown added another 7 to her total, and Addyson Roundtree put up another 6. The Bulldogs won and were on to the final match of the day.

Ionia knew that their final game would not be easy, but they came out ready to work hard.  The first set included some serve receive errors and the Dawgs fell short losing 18-25. They didn't let their spirit be broken and fought to the end trying to earn the first place title. Emma White had 6 kills and Ionia kept their energy up, but they couldn't quite pull ahead enough to snag the victory. The Bulldogs took home the second place trophy after a long day of hard work by all.
