PORTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL : 56
Tonight was the second meeting between Ionia and Portland. The Bulldogs played well in the first quarter and jumped out to a 14-6 lead. Portland was able to hold off Ionia and cut the lead to three going into halftime. Again, the Bulldogs played well and were up by 9 going into the fourth. Costly turnovers in the fourth and poor execution on the defensive side allowed Portland to come back and win 56-51. Colton Piercefield and Wolton Sandborn each had 16 points. Carter Ralston, Dawson Leland, and Nolan Hart had 4 each, Matthew Audia had a three-pointer, Mason Braman and Derrick Santana each had two. The Bulldogs are now 3-6. Their next game is home on Wednesday against Charlotte. This will be their last game of the season.
