The Ionia 8th Grade Volleyball Team took on the Greyhounds from Eaton Rapids tonight at home. Logan Thomas was a leader on the court putting up several nice kills and being aggressive on defense. Avery Hoppough and Amelia Griffith were strong in the front row each adding kill points to the score. A few miscommunications and struggles behind the serving line brought the Dawgs to their first set loss to Eaton Rapids at 23-25. The Bulldogs came out ready to battle in the second set, with Logan Thomas serving up two aces while Kaya Clark and Emma Hoppough followed suit with one each. Shiann Boer also added three aces and Avery Hoppough had two great digs. Ionia fought hard, but again fell short to the Greyhounds suffering their first loss of the season at 26-27. Eager to claim one set against Eaton Rapids, the Bulldogs were hungry in the final set and came out fired up! All in all each player did their part and contributed to the final set victory over Eaton Rapids, defeating the Greyhounds 15-2.
