Girls 8th Grade A Volleyball vs. Belding High School

The Ionia Bulldogs 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Belding tonight in their final match of the season. Serving tough, Bella Barr had 5 service points and one ace while Ryelee Daugherty had 7 service points. Alexa Peterson had 3 kills and 4 great digs. Juliette Stoakes and Olivia White each had 4 digs and Ella White added an additional 3. The Bulldogs hustled and communicated well in the first set against an undefeated Belding team. Ionia did not let up and defeated Belding 25-17.


Ready for their second and possible final match of the season, The Dawgs came out hungry for a victory. Pyper Patterson served tough with a combined 7 service points and aces. Ryelee Daugherty had 9 digs! Selina Stalker had a great kill down the line from the outside and Brynn Steffen also had a kill placing the ball well. Ionia came together and played a strong game against a competitive team. Everyone did their part to contribute to the victory over Belding in the second and final set. Ionia won 25-23 keeping their undefeated record alive. I am proud of this team's progress throughout the season and look forward to watching them excel in their next athletic endeavors. 

The Ionia A team finished the season with an 11-0 record. Thanks again to the parents, spectators, and families for all of the support this year! Let’s Go Bulldogs!

The Ionia Bulldogs 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Belding tonight in their final match of the season. Serving tough, Bella Barr had 5 service points and one ace while Ryelee Daugherty had 7 service points. Alexa Peterson had 3 kills and 4 great digs. Juliette Stoakes and Olivia White each had 4 digs and Ella White added an additional 3. The Bulldogs hustled and communicated well in the first set against an undefeated Belding team. Ionia did not let up and defeated Belding 25-17.


Ready for their second and possible final match of the season, The Dawgs came out hungry for a victory. Pyper Patterson served tough with a combined 7 service points and aces. Ryelee Daugherty had 9 digs! Selina Stalker had a great kill down the line from the outside and Brynn Steffen also had a kill placing the ball well. Ionia came together and played a strong game against a competitive team. Everyone did their part to contribute to the victory over Belding in the second and final set. Ionia won 25-23 keeping their undefeated record alive. I am proud of this team's progress throughout the season and look forward to watching them excel in their next athletic endeavors.

The Ionia Bulldogs 8th-grade volleyball team took on the Portland Raiders tonight on the road. The A team Dawgs showed up for the first set of the night with Ryelee Daugherty putting down 5 service points with 4 aces and Pyper Patterson adding 6 service points and 3 aces. Bella Barr, Selina Stalker, and Alexa Peterson each had 2 solid kills while Brynn Steffen added one. Patterson had 3 great kills. Ella White also had 6 awesome digs. The Bulldogs dominated the first set winning 25-12 over Portland. 

Ionia came out ready to battle in set two knowing that Portland was also hungry for the win. Olivia White and Juliette Stoakes hustled in the back row. Ella White and Pyper Patterson had some excellent kills in the front row while Bella Barr had multiple assists. Ryelee Daugherty had several great digs. It was a back-and-forth battle between the Bulldogs and Raiders and both teams fought for every point. A couple of missed short tips led to the Bulldogs’ defeat. The Raiders took the second set 26-24. 

Knowing if they wanted to remain undefeated this season, the Lady Dawgs had to take the final set. The Bulldogs had high energy and took an early lead over Portland with Ryelee Daugherty, Alexa Peterson, and Ella White serving tough with a combined 12 service points. Pyper Patterson had an awesome block. Bella Barr placed the ball well and made smart decisions in the front row. Juliette Stoakes did not let a ball drop on defense and covered her teammates at all costs. Their combined efforts led the Dawgs to their final set victory of 15-7 over the Raiders.

The A-Team Dawgs are 10-0 and remain undefeated this season. Please join us on Wednesday as we travel to Belding to take on the Black Knights for the final match of the year. Let’s Go Bulldogs!

The Ionia Bulldogs 8th Grade volleyball teams took on the Waverly Warriors tonight at home. Ryelee Daugherty served tough with 10 service points and an additional 3 aces. Pyper Patterson had 3 nice kills while Ella White added 2. Alexa Peterson had 9 service points and an ace. Their work behind the serving line paid off and the Dawgs defeated Waverly 25-3. 

Serving just as strong in the second set, Pyper Patterson had 12 service points and Selina Stalker had 4 with an additional ace. The Bulldogs did not give the Warriors a chance to come back and dominated the set winning 25-4. 

The final set was closer with the Bulldogs struggling to regroup at the end but Patterson once again stepped up to the serving line and put down 8 service points and 5 aces. Juliette Stoakes covered well in the back row and had a nice kill. Brynn Steffen had a nice assist. The Lady Dawgs worked together in the end and defeated Waverly 15-13.

The Ionia 8th grade volleyball teams took on the Red Wings from St. John’s tonight. Pyper Patterson had 7 great digs while Juliette Stoakes and Olivia White each had 3. Stoakes also had 8 service points and hustled on defense. Ella White had 6 awesome kills. Selina Stalker had 3 service points and one ace. All in all the Bulldogs played an excellent game and defeated St. John’s 25-15.

Starting off just as strong in the second set, Ryelee Daugherty had 5 service points and 3 aces. Alexa Peterson had 3 service points and 2 great assists. Stoakes had another 3 great digs. Bella Barr served tough and had 2 nice assists. Selina Stalker had another 5 total points behind the service line. Olivia White had another great dig and overall the Dawgs’ teamwork and high energy led them to a second set victory over the Red Wings, 25-11.

The Lady Dawgs again showed up in the final set of the night with solid kills from Bella Barr, Pyper Patterson, Ryelee Daugherty, Alexa Peterson, and Brynn Steffen. Ella White, Olivia White, and Juliette Stoakes crushed it on defense with several great digs each. Selina Stalker had another 6 points serving and the Bulldogs dominated St. John’s winning 15-7.

The Ionia Bulldogs 8th grade volleyball team took on the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds tonight on the road. Ionia served tough with Ryelee Daugherty putting down 5 service points and 3 aces. Ella White added an additional 4 service points and 2 aces. Pyper Patterson had 3 service points and 3 kills with an additional 2 digs from the back row. Brynn Steffen added a nice kill. The Bulldogs defeated the Greyhounds 25-13.

Ready for the second set, Ionia again came out strong behind the service line. Selina Stalker put down 6 service points and 1 ace. Alexa Peterson had 4 great assists. Juliette Stoakes hustled all over the court and did not let a ball drop. Bella Barr was smart at the net and put down 2 excellent kills placing the ball well. The Bulldogs took down Eaton Rapids 25-11.

The Lady Dawgs struggled on serve receive in the final set and could not seem to regroup. Olivia White had some nice digs and covered her hitters well. Ryelee Daugherty served well and gained us 6 points. Juliette Stoakes played well on defense and gave her best effort. Overall the Dawgs could not overcome the point deficit and fell short of the win losing 7-15 in the end.

The A Team Bulldogs are still undefeated and are 7-0 this season. Please join us on Monday as we face St. John’s at home. Let’s Go Bulldogs!

The Ionia 8th grade volleyball team took on the Vikings from Lakewood tonight at home. Ryelee Daugherty served tough and had 3 service points right away as well as 2 great kills. Bella Barr had 4 assists and Alexa Peterson added 2 as well as 2 kills, 2 service points and an ace. Despite their solid efforts, the Bulldogs had a few mishaps on tip coverage and communication and fell just short of the victory losing the match 21-25. 

Ready to start fresh, the Dawgs came out with high energy and a hungry spirit in the second set. Pyper Patterson had 4 service points, 2 aces, 4 kills, and a great dig. Peterson had 9 service points, 3 aces, and an additional assist. Olivia White added 4 service points and an ace. Brynn Steffen placed the ball well from the net. The Bulldogs played their game and dominated the Vikings 25-7.

The third and final set was a quick one to 15 and Ella White was strong behind the service line. She put down 4 service points and 3 aces. Selina Stalker played smart in the front row. Juliette Stoakes hustled on defense and covered her hitters well. Together, the Bulldogs drove themselves to victory over the Vikings and defeated them quickly with a 15-4 final score.

The Ionia 8th Grade Volleyball teams took on the Portland Raiders at home tonight. Ryelee Daugherty led the Bulldogs to an early lead with 11 service points and 5 aces. Bella Bar had an ace and a kill as well as 2 assists and 3 great digs. Ella White had 3 kills, an excellent block, and 5 awesome digs! Olivia White added another great dig and covered her teammates well! Ionia defeated Portland 25-14. 

Portland was eager to get back on the court and fought hard against the Dawgs. Pyper Patterson had 4 kills, an assist, and 10 great digs. Bella Barr added 6 more digs and Ryelee Daugherty had 8. Alexa Peterson had 2 great assists. Despite their efforts, a few errors on defense covering tips at the end of the match allowed the Raiders to overtake the lead and defeat the Bulldogs 22-25. 

With just 15 points to go, Ionia was ready and fired up getting back on the court. Quickly regaining the serve after losing the coin flip, Daugherty put down 4 solid service points. Selina Stalker had 2 great kills and Brynn Steffen added one. Ella White added 4 kills and Olivia White covered her front row well picking up short tips and managing the end line. All in all the Bulldogs pulled together as a team and played their game, leading them to a final set victory over Portland 15-7.

The Ionia 8th Grade A team Bulldogs traveled to Olivet tonight to take on the Eagles. The first match was competitive with both sides serving tough and serve receiving well. Bella Barr had one ace and two service points as well as a great assist. Pyper Patterson had three service points, three aces, two kills, and four great digs. The Dawgs were ahead slightly but it was a back and forth battle. Juliette Stoakes hustled in the back row and did not let a ball drop. She also had two service points and two aces sending the Bulldogs to a first set victory 25-23.

Starting out with high energy for the second set, Ionia was ready to compete against the Eagles. Alexa Peterson had six service points and three aces as well as two great kills placed just right and an added two digs. Selina Stalker added four service points, two aces and a nice assist. Our back row players covered their front row well and picked up many short tips. Overall their teamwork and hustle on the court led the Bulldogs to a second set victory over the Eagles 25-19.

With just 15 points to go, Ionia came out hungry in the final set of the night. Ryelee Daugherty led the Dawgs to a strong lead right away with five service points, three aces, and two kills. The Bulldogs were aggressive at the net and kept swinging with excellent coverage from their back row teammates. They had effective communication and executed plays well as a team. All of their hard work led them to a final set victory over Olivet 15-7.

The 8th Grade Volleyball teams took on the Charlotte Orioles for their first home match of the season. The Bulldogs started off with some aggressive net play from Pyper Patterson, Alexa Peterson, and Ryelee Daugherty who each put down 2 solid kills. Patterson also added 10 outstanding digs. Juliette Stoakes added 3 nice digs and covered her front row hitters well. Ella White had 4 service points and 2 aces. Olivia White had a great dig and one service point. The Bulldogs defeated the Orioles 25-21. 

Bella Barr started the Dawgs off with 3 great assists and a solid kill. Selina Stalker and Brynn Steffens each added 2 nice kills. Pyper Patterson had 3 aces, 3 service points, 3 kills, 3 digs, and one nice assist. Alexa Peterson had 5 service points, 1 ace, 3 assists at the setter's spot, and a solid dig. Ionia communicated well but a few mishaps on serve receive led to their defeat by the Orioles 23-25. 

Knowing they only had 15 points to win the match, it all came down to the final set. Charlotte got off to an early lead as the Bulldogs struggled on serve receive with several passes going into the net. The Dawgs were down by 5 points and Pyper Patterson stepped up to the service line. She served 7 service points, 4 aces and also had 4 great kills bringing the intensity back to the Bulldogs. Ryelee Daugherty had 2 solid kills with 3 assists from Bella Barr and the Dawgs overcame the point deficit to defeat Charlotte 15-11. I am proud of both teams tonight finding the GRIT and strength to pull off their wins!

The Ionia 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Lansing Catholic tonight to take on the Cougars. Ryelee Daugherty quickly put down 4 aces and 3 kills kicking off the Bulldogs’ drive to victory. She also had 3 great digs! Bella Barr and Pyper Patterson each added 6 service points and 3 aces. Patterson also had a big block at the net. Alexa Peterson had 5 great assists and the Bulldogs took down the Cougars 25-14 in the first set.

Keeping the same high energy going into the second set, the Lady Dawgs served strong and hustled on defense. Pyper Patterson had 6 digs, Ryelee Daugherty and Juliette Stoakes each had 2 solid digs while Olivia White added 4. Brynn Steffen put down 3 solid kills and placed the ball well. Our defense did not let a ball drop and our communication was on point. Ionia defeated Lansing Catholic 25-16.

Entering the 3rd and final set of the night, everyone worked together to get the job done. Ella White played aggressively all the way around putting down 3 nice kills from the front row and 2 assists as well as a total of 3 service points and aces. Juliette Stoakes had 2 service points and another nice dig. Bella Barr had a great kill and 2 excellent assists. Overall the Lady Dawgs played competitively against a solid Lansing Catholic squad and came out on top. They hustled on defense and were aggressive on offense all night leading them to a 3-0 victory with the final set score of 15-13.

Ionia is 2-0 on the season so far and hopes to continue their undefeated season this Wednesday as we take on Charlotte at home. Let’s Go Bulldogs!

The Bulldogs traveled to Lakewood tonight to take on the Vikings. Bella Barr put down four service points, one ace, and two assists. Pyper Patterson added another three service points, two aces, one kill, two assists, and three digs. Ella White and Selina Stalker each had two great kills at the net. The Bulldogs played aggressively and defeated the Vikings 25-22.

Ready to dominate in the second set, Ionia came out with Ryelee Daugherty Serving six aces and 10 service points! She also had a kill at the net. Alexa Peterson had three nice assists and a kill as well. Brynn Steffen and Juliette Stoakes had some nice digs and did not let the ball drop. The Lady Dawgs won 25-14 over Lakewood.

The Bulldogs had high energy and did not let up during the final set. Barr, Patterson, and Ella White each had several service points and aces. Ella White also had two kills. Olivia White hustled on defense and covered her hitters well. Selina Stalker was aggressive behind the service line as well as at the net. Overall the Lady Dawgs played very well as a team and had great communication as a unit. Ionia defeated the Vikings 15-7.
