Ionia got another great pitching performance from Ethan Bowen in CAAC white conference matchup.  The game was tied 0-0 heading into the 6th inning when Lansing Catholic was able to plate 3 runs on a ball that got lost in the sun at Frank Ciangi Memorial Field.  Ionia tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning but could only score one run.  Bowen pitching 7 innings, 3 runs, 2 hits and 11 strikeouts.  Offensively Ionia had 4 hits by Ethan Bowen, Matt McCoy, Garrett Lee and Gage Flanner.  

Game #2

With a must needed win, Ionia dug down deep and pulled out a win vs the #5 ranked Cougars of Lansing Catholic.  With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Matt McCoy led off the inning with a double down the third base line.  Kane Lundstrom then executed a perfect sac bunt to move McCoy over to third base with one out.  Tyson McDiarmid delivered with a hard hit fly ball scoring McCoy with a sac fly and Rbi.  Carter Castillo pitched 5 great innings again for the Bulldogs, 2 runs, 5 hits, 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.  With Castillo reaching his pitch count in the 5th inning Ionia brought in freshman Colt Piercefield to pitch the final 2 innings.  In the top of the 7th inning LCC had their three, four and five hitters up.  Colt got a one, two, three inning and picked up the win for the Bulldogs.  Colt pitched 2 innings, 0 runs, 0 hits and 1 walk.  Ionia had 8 hits led by Alex Barr 2-3 and 2 rbi's, Ethan Bowen with a hit, Matt McCoy with a double Kane Lundstrom, Danny McCoy, Garrett Lee and Gage Flanner all had hits as well.  

Ionia is now 15-8 overall on the season and will play @Alma on Thursday, then will host a tournament this Saturday starting at 10:00 am vs Greenville, Ovid-Elsie and Alma.
