Tied 2-2 in the top of the 8th inning Alex Barr singled with 2 outs, Portland then walked Ethan Bowen setting up a clutch 2 out 2 rbi double by Matt McCoy to take the lead 4-2.  Carter Castillo came in relief to close the door for the Ionia victory.  Ethan Bowen picked up the win for the bulldogs.  He pitched 7 innings, 2 runs, 4 hits and striking out 15.  An absolute dominating performance by Ethan Bowen on the mound.  Carter Castillo picked up the save pitching 1 inning and striking out 2 batters.  Alex Barr was 2-3, Ethan Bowen 1-3 and an Rbi, Matt McCoy 1-3 with 2 rbi's and a double, Garrett Lee and Danny McCoy both added hits.  

Game #2 was very similar to the first game.  Two very good games by both Ionia and Portland.  Once again tied 2-2 heading into the 8th inning, Ionia took the lead 4-2.  Unfortunately for Ionia Portland hit a grandslam to win the game with 2 outs.  Two very well played games last night.  Ionia was led by Carter Castillo 2-3, Ethan Bowen 2-3 and 2 Rbi's, Matt McCoy and Danny McCoy both added hits.  Carter Castillo pitched 6 amazing innings, 2 runs, 3 hits and 8 strikeouts.  

Ionia is now 14-5 on the season and 3-3 in league play.  Ionia will play Saturday in the Waverly Tournament at 12:15 vs Waverly.  Williamston and Olivet will both be playing in the tournament.
