Ionia Varsity Bulldogs Falls to Pewamo-Westphalia Despite Collecting More Hits

Ionia Varsity Bulldogs out-hit Pewamo-Westphalia ten to seven, but it wasn't enough in a 12-7 loss on Tuesday

Ionia Varsity Bulldogs lost despite out-hitting Pewamo-Westphalia ten to seven.

Pewamo-Westphalia got things started in the first inning when #25 drew a walk, scoring one run.

Ionia Varsity Bulldogs knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning.  Ionia Varsity Bulldogs scored one run when Tyson McDiarmid singled.

After Pewamo-Westphalia scored two runs in the top of the seventh, Ionia Varsity Bulldogs answered with two of their own.  Pewamo-Westphalia scored when #7 singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and #25's sac fly scored one run for Pewamo-Westphalia.  Ionia Varsity Bulldogs then answered when Kolson Daugherty singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Ethan Bowen grounded out, scoring one run.

Pewamo-Westphalia pulled away for good with one run in the third inning.  In the third #11's sac fly scored one run for Pewamo-Westphalia.

Ionia Varsity Bulldogs notched three runs in the fifth inning.  Ionia Varsity Bulldogs big bats were led by Garrett Lee and Bowen, who all drove in runs.

Pewamo-Westphalia scored five runs in the fourth inning.  The offensive onslaught by Pewamo-Westphalia was led by #7, #25, and #14, all driving in runs in the inning.

#7 earned the win for Pewamo-Westphalia. undefined surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one.  #3 threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Bowen took the loss for Ionia Varsity Bulldogs. Bowen lasted three and a third innings, allowing three hits and seven runs while striking out nine.

Matt McCoy led Ionia Varsity Bulldogs with two hits in three at bats.  Ethan Bowen, Danny McCoy, Kane Lundstrom, Tyson McDiarmid, Gage Flanner, Miles Gregory, Garrett Lee and Kolson Daugherty all collected hits for the Bulldogs. 

Game #2 

Pewamo Westphalia 2 Ionia 3 (4 innings)

Ionia once again out hit their opponent 4 to 3.  The game was called in the 4th inning with Ionia leading 3-2.  Matt McCoy got the start for Ionia pitching 1 inning, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs.  Miles Gregory came in relief and pitched 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 2 batters.  Miles Gregory did an excellent job tonight on the mound for the Ionia Bulldogs.  

Ionia was led offensively by Garrett Lee who had a hit and a Rbi, Ethan Bowen had a hit and a Rbi, Miles Gregory had a hit and Kane Lundstrom had a hit and scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the 4th inning.
