Ionia finishes the season 14-14-1.  District play will continue this Saturday with the #2 ranked team in the State Forest Hills Eastern vs Belding.  Portland ranked #10 vs St. Johns ranked #11.  If you're looking to watch some good baseball in will be in Ionia this Saturday.  Ionia will also be hosting Regional action Wednesday June 8th. 

• Ionia Bulldogs Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-0 loss to Portland on Tuesday. Portland scored on a single by #2 in the second inning.
• The Ionia Bulldogs Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Portland, giving up seven runs.
• Portland got things started in the first inning. #6 was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
• A single by Matt McCoy in the second inning was a positive for Ionia Bulldogs Varsity.
• #32 led the Portland to victory on the mound. The pitcher lasted six and a third innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out nine and walking one. #15 threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
• Ethan Bowen took the loss for Ionia Bulldogs Varsity. Bowen surrendered five runs on nine hits over five innings, striking out six.
• Matt McCoy went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ionia Bulldogs Varsity in hits. Ionia Bulldogs Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Daniel McCoy had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
• Portland racked up nine hits in the game. #24 and #32 all collected multiple hits for Portland.
