SARANAC HS: 1
Ionia started the season with a 11-1 win, mercy rule in 5 innings. Collin Palmer got the win (1-0) going 3 innings and giving up 1 unearned run. Aj Castillo came in relief, pitching 2 innings of shutout baseball. Offensively, Trevor Arens was 3-4 with 3 Rbi's, Ethan Bowen had a double with an Rbi, Danny McCoy had a single and an Rbi.
The second game of the doubleheader was called in the top of the 4th inning. At the time Ionia was leading 5-1. Danny McCoy got the start going 2 innings with 0 runs and 5 k's . Will Anderson pitched a third of an inning, giving up 1 run. Aj Castillo came in relief of Anderson to get us out of a bases loaded jam. Matt Meyer, Trevor Arens and Owen Delvin led the way at the plate with a hit a piece.
The bulldogs are 1-0 on the season and will play at Portland St. Pats, Wednesday, March 31st.
