The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team took to the course Saturday for the Cougar-Falcon Invitational on the campus of Calvin University. The Bulldogs competed in the field with 277 athletes and raced to a 4th place finish out of 12 teams in the Cougar division. Fast times were hard to come by on the muddy course. Medaling for the Bulldogs were Josiah Magley who finished 8th (17th overall) in 16:28 and Heath LaPointe who crossed the line in 14th (47th overall) in 17:10. Rounding out the scoring 5 for the Bulldogs were Jacob Montgomery who finished 30th in 17:49, Andrew Gerdes who placed 34th in 18:08 and Ellis Yokom who was right on his heels in 35th with a personal record time of 18:08. The Bulldogs will travel north to Shepherd for another large meet on Saturday, October 2nd.
