The Ionia Boys Track and Field Team Qualified for and Competed in the MITCA Team State Meet on Friday May 27, 2022.  The Bulldogs Qualified based on their top performances throughout the season and became one of the 12 schools to compete in the meet.

The boys had a tough go of things on Friday after coming off the Hard fought victory at the CAAC White Conference meet just 2 days ago.  Some of the highlights included 4 PR’s, 1 Season Record, and 9 finishes in the top 10 for events.

The PR’s came from Shawn Miller in the 100M (11.92), Tyson Evans in the 800M Run (2:15.18), Jacob Montgomery in the 1600M Run (4:36.24), and Andrew Gerdes in the 1600M Run (5:00.33), The lone SR came from Heath LaPointe in the 800M run (2:06.13).

The top 10 finishes came from Josiah Magley in the 1600 (1st), Jimmy Peabody in the 400M Dash (5th), Ethan Canfield in the High Jump (5th), Heath LaPointe in the 800M Run (8th), Clay Currigan in the 300M Hurdles (8th) and the 110 Hurdles (9th).  Two relays made up of Travis Tucker, Trevor Tooker, Sam Eppler, and Jimmy Peabody Finished in the top 10; 4 X 100 Relay (7th) and the 4 X 200 Relay (5th).

     The Boys (and Girls) will next Compete at the Greater Lansing Honor Role Meet on Tuesday May 31st at Waverly High School (5:30pm) and Saturday June 4th at Forest Hills Eastern in the D2 MHSAA state Finals.
