The Ionia Middle School's 7th grade girls' basketball team dropped their opening game to St. Johns, 38-25. Leading the way for Ionia was Ava Benedict with 9 points, Olivia Lemke with 6 points, Ava Bowen and Ash Ellsworth with 4 points each. Gena Rogers also contributed 2 points in. The girls will travel to Lansing Catholic to take on the Cougars this Wednesday at 4:30.
