ST. JOHNS MIDDLE SCHOOL: 28
Tonight was the first game of the season for the Bulldogs as they hosted St. Johns. The girls started strong in the first quarter and led 10-7. They continued to play well and at the half was leading 21-16. The Bulldogs started slowly in the third quarter and allowed St. Johns to get within 2 points before pushing the lead to 4 starting the fourth. With some nice defensive pressure, they were able to pull ahead and win 39-28. The leading scorers were Josie Lee who hit 5 three pointers and ended with 17 points. Alexa Barna had 9 points, Tessa Lemke had 6 points and Kylie Leonard finished with 4. Paislie Patterson and Grace Droste each chipped in 1. Ionia is now 1-0 and their next game is Monday, January 31 at Waverly.
