LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL: 4
The Ionia Girls Junior Varsity Softball Team split with Lakewood on Thursday, May 18th. The first game Ionia came out strong winning 12-4, but struggled in the second 7-21. During the first game the girls did a great job defensively making plays and went out ready to hit. Lauryn Schmid, Ava Bucholtz, and Tate Piche all went 3-4. Jadine Bigger also went 3-4 with a big 3 run double in the 4th inning. Kayleigh Allen went 3-3 as well! The second game was a bit more of a struggle as Ionia gave up more hits and struggled with errors in one inning giving up most of their runs. During this game Ava Bucholtz, Kaylee Schmid, and Liberty Stanard went 2-3 and Lauryn Schmid went 3-3. Liberty Stanard pitched both games for the Bulldogs. The girls have only one week left of softball as next week they play at home vs. St. Pats on Tuesday, May 23rd.
