HASTINGS HIGH SCHOOL: 16
The Ionia JV Girls Softball Team achieved their first win of the season tonight against Hastings at home. The Bulldogs started the night with a close game winning 17-16 with the winning run coming from Lauryn Schmid on a pass ball steal home. They did much better fielding and being aggressive at the plate. Gabbi Meyers went 1-1 with 3 walks, Mariah Stoakes went 2-4, and Jazmin Cooper went 4-4.
The second game for the Bulldogs was not as exciting as they struggled with some errors and were not able to stay on top of their hits as well as the first game. There were some girls with good at bats as Jazmin Cooper and Ava Buncholz both went 2-3. This leaves the girls at a 1-11 record for the season.
The next game for the JV Girls is Friday, April 28th at home for the annual Purple Game vs. Saranac High School!
