Ionis JV Softball Bulldog Invite

Game 1: Central Montcalm 20 Ionia 8

Ionia lost against Central Montcalm in game 1 at the Ionia JV Softball Invite. Ionia let up 7 runs in the 1st inning. Ionia was only able to score 1 run in the bottom of the first. Ionia let up 7 runs again in the 2nd inning. Ionia got their bats moving in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring a total of 6 runs Jadine Bigger started the inning off with hitting a triple. Ionia was unable to get their bats moving in the last three innings only scoring 1 additional run. The Bulldogs were led by Gabbi Meyers and Jadine Bigger both going 2 for 3, Mariah Stoakes, Ava Bucholz and Lauryn Schmid all went 1 for 2 with 1 walk, Jazmine Cooper went 1 for 3, Liberty Standard went 1 for 1 and Cash Austin had 2 walks. Jadine Bigger and Liberty Stanard both were on the mound for the Bulldogs. 

Game 2: Lakewood 18 Ionia 2

Ionia lost against Lakewood in Game 2. Ionia struggled to hit the ball in Game 2 against Lakewood's Pitching. Lakewood had a strong offense allowing them to score 6 runs in the first inning and 9 runs in the 2nd inning. Ionia only had 3 hits and walked 7 times. The Bulldogs were led by Gabbi Meyers who went 2 for 2, Ava Bucholz went 1 for 1 with 1 walk. Lauryn Schmid, Kayle Schmid, Tate Piche and Jazmin Cooper all went 0-1 with 1 walk. Corina Hall was also walked twice. Jadine Bigger and Liberty Stanard both were on the mound for the Bulldogs. 

The Bulldogs are taking the positives from this weekend and building on it as they are searching for wins at home on Thursday April 27th against Hastings and on Friday April 28th against Saranac for the Purple Game.
