The JV-B Football team played the Saranac Redhawks Wednesday evening in Saranac.  The Bulldogs lost 34-20 after a great start on the Night.  The JV-B team is now 0-2 on the season.

  Ionia received the opening kickoff and scored on the first offensive play of the game.  Wolton Sandborn scored on a 57 yard scamper around the right end.  The bulldogs failed to put the 2 point conversion in.  The Redhawks countered with 6 points of their own in the second quarter.  Ionia countered going ahead 12-6 with under 5 minutes remaining in the half with a second touchdown for Wolton Sandborn.  The half ended with Saranac scoring one more time with a successful 2 point conversion making the half time score, Saranac 14 - Ionia 12.

   In the second half The Redhawks found some success throwing the ball going ahead 20 -12.  The final touchdown for Ionia came on the Defensive side when Carson Barber intercepted and ran the ball back 45 yards for a Bulldog Touchdown.  Dawson Leland ran off tackle for the 2 point conversion.  The game remained tied 20 - 20 through most of the fourth quarter with Saranac scoring two late TD’s to make the final score 34-20.

Defensively Ionia was led by Wolton Sandborn, Dawson Leland, and Evan Yenchar and of course Carson Barber with his “Pick-Six”
