ST. JOHNS HIGH SCHOOL: 4
The Ionia JV boys soccer team traveled to St Johns tonight to play the Red Wings. The Bulldogs started out strong with good ball movement, a strong defensive line, and several counter attacks. Alex Barr was in goal for the first half and kept a clean sheet with 5 saves. The score at the half was 0-0. Carl Goeckel started the second half in goal, ending the game with 6 saves. The Red Wings came out strong scoring their first goal of the game within 5 minutes of the second half. The Bulldogs did all they could, but with no subs for the entire game fatigue slowly crept up, while St Johns had a deep bench to pull from. The final score ended up being 4-0 in favor of St Johns.
Ionia JV soccer is now 1-2-1 on the season and will next travel to Hastings on Saturday September 24th to play a match vs the Saxons @10am
