The Ionia JV boys soccer team was back in action tonight for their 2nd game of the season during Ionia’s purple week. They hosted the Portland Raiders JV soccer team in a 9v9 match. The first half showed an even match between the two teams. Ionia’s Scotti Kimber held the back line of the defense constantly putting a stop to Portland's attack with help from Johan Baeza and Jaiden Bennett. Alex Barr was in keep and had 5 terrific saves in the first half, unfortunately the Raiders were able to sneak a goal in close to the end of the half. 

Portland's numbers started to show in the 2nd half as Ionia only had 1 sub for the entire match while they had several. Jaiden Bennett was in the goal for the second half of the match and had 10 saves while letting in 5 goals. Even though defensively we started to waiver, the Bulldogs finally started to connect on some good combinations in the middle between Brady Diebel, Drew Paton, and Derrick Santana that led to 2 shots by Drew and 1 shot on goal by Derrick. The final score ended up being Portland 6 - Ionia 0

The JV Boys Soccer Team is 1-1 for the season and will next play away @Greenville @5 pm on Thursday September 15th.
