Ionia JV Baseball traveled to Waverly last night to play the warriors in a double header. Ionia ended up losing a close one in the 7th inning 4-5 for the first game, in the second game the Bulldogs left no doubt winning the game 12-3 in 5 innings. 

Roel Lopez started on the mound in the first game, the right hander went 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Dawson Leland pitched in relief, throwing 3 innings giving up 1 run on 0 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. 

At the plate the Bulldogs were led by Carter Ralston and Dawson Leland both collecting 2 hits a piece for ionia. Ralston had 3 RBI’s in the game while Leland had 1 RBI as well. 

In the second game Ethan Wenzel got the nod to start the game. He was able to last 4 innings in this one giving up 1 run (0 earned) on 0 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 5. Teddy Sprank closed the game out pitching 1 inning giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. 

Offensively the Bulldogs had multiple guys get hits in this one. Gregory, Braman, Wenzel, Hart, and Sandborn each collected 1 hit in the game. Jude Gregory ended up with 2 RBI’s on his hit leading the team for the day. Ionia had 5 stolen bases in this one with Vinny Crippen leading the team with 2. 

Ionia is now 6-11-1 on the season and will next travel to Lansing Catholic on Tuesday May 14th to play the Cougars @4pm.
