Ionia JV Baseball lost both games tonight vs Haslett. The first game was a close one with Ionia losing 2-5 and the second game ended with Ionia losing 4-8. 

Roel Lopez was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs in the first game. He started out slowly giving up 3 runs in the first inning, but finished strong for the final 3 innings he pitched with 0 runs. Overall Lopez gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, striking out 3 and walking 3 in 4 total innings pitched. 

Offensively, the team had multiple guys get hits today. Braman, Ralston, Santana, Sayers, and Lopez each had 1 hit, while Mason Braman had the teams 2 RBI’s for the game. Carter Ralston and Caiden Sayers each had multiple stolen bases today. 

In the second game, Dawson Leland started on the mound, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs over 2 and a 1/3rd innings. Ethan Wenzel pitched in relief going 1 and 2/3rds of an inning giving up 4 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Caden Sayers closed out the game allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. 

Offensively the Bulldogs tried to rally late but ended up short scoring 3 of their 4 runs in the final inning. Ralston, Sayers, Hoppes, Gregory, Sandborn, and Hart teacher recorded a hit in the second game. Multiple guys had RBI’s in the game and Wolton Sandborn led the team in stolen bases this game with 2 

The Ionia JV baseball team is now 1-5 on the season and will look to win their JV baseball invite this Saturday April 20th. Games will start at 10am and the teams that will be present are Ionia, Saranac, Lakewood, and Central Montcalm.
